Holidays to Ibiza Town involve walking the town’s cobbled streets, which are lined with pretty houses, boutiques, cafés and restaurants, while its historic centre is now a Unesco World Heritage Site, encircled by medieval walls.
Glamorous and edgy all at once, Ibiza holidays are a clubber’s heaven, especially 24-hour party places like Ibiza Town and San Antonio. But it’s got its softer side, too – the north of the island is full of secret coves and hills coated in lush, rich-green pine trees.
Start your day at the marina in Ibiza Town has hundreds of yachts bobbing in the Mediterranean Sea, with a host of restaurants, boutique shops and trendy bars, no one is in a hurry here, and you really get a sense of what Ibiza is all about. The Old Town is an ancient fortress, built as a defence against pirates and other invaders. It's one of the best things to do in Ibiza, and walking through the ancient gate into the city is really evocative. Make sure you visit the hippy market, you can expect loads of hippy fashion, one-of-a-kind jewellery, tasty food stalls, and live music to entertain the crowds. Try the local dishes like seafood Paella an iconic rice dish that is slow cooked with fish, squid, prawns and a variety of shellfish. Of course for those here to party San Antonio is home to some of Ibiza’s best known and liveliest nightclubs. Ibiza has numerous fantastic beaches, some of which are perfect for families, whether you want water sports and restaurants, or simply a picnic on the sand and a nice spot for swimming. It would seem remiss not to take at least one boat trip with your kids or visit the Aguamar water park, in Playa d’en Bossa, which has different slides and pools (including paddling pools for smaller kids), picnic areas, a decent restaurant and a play park.
