Bassenthwaite is a small charming idyll village not far from Bassenthwaite Lake, under the shadow of the Skiddaw massif.  Skiddaw mountain is one of England’s highest mountains..

Bassenthwaite makes an ideal destination for anyone wishing to immerse themselves in the quintessential charm of the Lake District. Bassenthwaite Lake is one of the largest water bodies in the Lake District, it is long and narrow, approximately 4 miles long and 3⁄4-mile wide, but is also extremely shallow, with a maximum depth of about 70 ft (21 m).

Near to the north end of Bassenthwaite Lake is The Lakes Distillery producing artisan whisky, gin and vodka. There is a visitor centre with distillery tours, and a bistro.
